Boy child labour

Boy child education

Boy child education in Nigeria generally has fallen drastically as boys today are rather made to mature and take responsibilities from a young age, their childhood ripped from them and life being rather too difficult especially for those in the villages or rural areas where accessibility to even government amenities are tough.
Speaking to Aliyu, a 7 year old boy in tudun wada who hawks water, he says; “I am unable to go to school as my parents could not pay for the requirements and materials for my learning and my father married to 3 wives with my mother being the second wife barely has time or resources to fend for all his children, I am the first of 3 siblings and in order to assist my mother, I started hawking sachet water, though I wish I could be in school like my mates, this is my current predicament and I have to live with it”.
On the other hand, Mustapha is a 17 year old boy working in panteka market, he is into iron works and says school has never been favorable to him and instead wasting his time and money from parents, he decided to get into iron work as long as it puts food on his table.
